Douglas C. Freeman heads the diversity and inclusion practice at UWG Global Reflections. A global, multicultural, communication and advertising firm. Global Reflections is a sophisticated line of client offerings that provide corporations with a deep portfolio of holistic diversity and inclusion best practices, customized to the client’s specific business needs. Mr.Freeman and UWG have completed diversity and inclusion projects for some of the world’s leading organizations, from Disney and Major League Baseball to Morgan Stanley and the European Union Commission in Brussels. Highlights 2000 to Present: Founder, MyFair: Diversity recruitment model for an individual corporation (inverse of career fair model), attracting hard-to-find STEM talent, utilizing a database of over 1M high school, college and young professional candidates. Mr. Freeman has served as Vice Chairman of the United Nations Gender Equality Experts Panel, was named a 40Under40 business leader by the NYC Network Journal and is a former board trustee of Georgetown College (US educational partner of Regents Park College, Oxford University). He recently served on the Dean’s Alumni Leadership Council at the JFK School of Government, Harvard University. Mr.Freeman holds a master’s degree in public policy, focused on international trade and finance, from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, and a BA from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a two-time British Columbia Under-19 Rugby All-Star; was a two-time Canadian Universities “All-Canadian” (Ontario Universities) and was selected for the Canada Under-21 team as a Rugby All-Star. Mr. Freeman is the son of Grammy Award-winning conductor Maestro Paul Freeman, the first African-American to lead a Canadian Symphony Orchestra.
Fred Smith is on the Global Reflections team, the diversity and inclusion practice at UniWorld Group, Inc. He has over 25 years of experience in management consulting, human resources, diversity management, compliance and training. His experience with a variety of clients and sectors provides Fred with the broad background to tailor solutions that deliver results. As a recognized leader in the field of diversity and inclusion, Fred has served in a variety of senior leadership roles including: ● Chief Diversity Officer for 60,000 employee retail organization in US and Mexico ● Senior Management Consultant for three leading global diversity and inclusion consulting organizations: Korn Ferry/Global Novations, ProGroup and Virtcom Consulting In these roles, Fred has provided strategic advice and solutions on talent management, compliance, and outreach to business units, boards, and C-suite leadership. Recognizing a need for a developmental approach to understanding diversity and inclusion and implementing best practices, Fred designed a suite of strategic, multi-level courses that can customized to support specific organizational values and goals. Course levels are Compliance and Awareness, Workforce and Culture, and Leadership and Economic Value. Fred earned a BS in Secondary Education from Texas A&M University, PHR Certification from Rice University and has attended the Babson School for Business Executive Leadership Program and the Center for Creative Leadership Executive Program. He is also Program Director at the University of Houston Learning Skills For Life.
Lisa has over 10 years of extensive hands-on experience in project management and execution, leading initiatives, program design and development, advanced analytics, strategic planning, and program evaluation. She has worked collaboratively with numerous clients across various sectors supporting the customi-zation of diversity training and evaluation tools, development and roll-out of training programs, developing inclusive leadership workshops and toolkits for unconscious bias training, and facilit-ating unconscious bias training. She obtained her BA in Psychology from Penn State, and went on to complete her doctoral work in Social Psychology at Simon Fraser University. Her academic work focused on under-standing experiences with discrimination from a minority group perspective, as well as social justice-related research on intergroup relations, stereotyping and prejudice. Her academic and profess-ional experience is a unique blend, offering versatility along with the ability to design and implement creative solutions.
John Phillips is a project manager and consultant at UWG Global Reflections, a leading consultancy linking business and diversity strategies. He has worked on projects in various industries including corporate diversity strategy, unconscious bias training for business impact, and research in affinity groups and corporate board diversity. John also lived in Bergamo, Italy for five years, where he worked in marketing for Aesys, a manufacturer of electronic information systems. There he specialized in international strategy, analytics, and communi-cation. John holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fordham University and currently resides in New York City. When not working in diversity, John takes photos and gives tours of New York City in both English and Italian.
